My favourite thing is to go to, where I've never been before. Also, I take loads of PHOTOS & VIDEOS with my iPhone, 35 mm film camera or boyfriend's dslr.

Please vote for my photography book: SEOUL LUST! http://photographybooknow.blurb.com/peoples-choice/category/travel
Yesterday evening an Email confirmed that the judges have nominated my book to be voted for a People’s Choice Award!
You can find my book in the category: Travel. The cover looks like my blog’s header. And while you’re there, vote for books in other categories too.
My book is still in the running for their other prize categories too, but winning a People’s Choice Awards would already make me so happy, I can’t even describe how much!
I can’t even remember when I won something. I thought I used my lucky streak during my elementary school period of life. I won an Indian Ocean Art Competition, a Japan Art Competition, every race during sports-day and got cool X-mas presents from Mr. Santa. Well, only much later I found out, my parents and all the other parents were paying Santa :P
Anyways, after being kind of lucky as a little kid, I never ever won something else, and eventually I stopped participating in any other competitions. I mean, I know you shouldn’t give up, but it does start scratching your ego if you keep failing, right?
When I left Korea, I had all those photos saved on my disk, I thought it would be a pity to keep them hidden on my computer, therefore I decided to make a book and get them printed. My sister was turning 20, and the book is about “Seoul during your twenties”, so it made an ideal present as well. When I saw the call to enter the competition, I thought: “Perfect. The book is ready, so let’s give it a go.”
I sent in my application over a month ago, and I barely thought of it again, so imagine how much I jumped when I read “Congratulations. You’re a PBN People’s Choice Nominee.”
Please vote for my book! I would be so grateful! It would mean a lot to me.
They will announce all winners on September 1.
I’ll keep you updated!
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today! I read that if you do something for more then 21 days straight it becomes your hobby, a normal part of your day. I’m trying to get into my workout routine, but things keep getting into my way. My excuses are: I woke up too late, I’m too tired, it’s raining, I don’t have time!
That last excuse is kind of lame, because I remember leaving the house around 7, work or go to uni for hours, and even if I had loads of stuff to do, I would still head to the gym afterwards, no matter how late it was. There’s always time. You just have to start and stick to it.
For the next 5 weeks I’ve got heaps of time, and at the moment loads of stuff are going through my mind. Whenever I feel like that, I think running is the only thing that helps me stay sane. What also helps is to push myself into work. So I’m also working on this personal video project about a common Korean topic. I’ll talk about it soon, I will need my reader’s opinion too! ^_^
But before I start working or talking about that, I’m off for a jog!
I just randomly took some videos on my iPhone, did the editing and created a video called Seoul Fashion Week F/W 2011/2012.
That’s how I remember Seoul Fashion Week.
I had a great time during Seoul Fashion Week.
That was it.
I take photos and videos and upload them all over the internet.
Some love it and others don’t, and question why I’m doing what I’m doing right now.
In short: It’s called social media.
Find the definition on Wikipedia. Read Enterprise 2.0. Google thebrandbuilder. Find out what UGC means. Go for change management. Retire. Or move to a little island without internet connection.
But if you start trying to change your thoughts over months you could save years of unnecessary anxiety.
Social media is here to stay.
I think it’s on the one side a great instrument to stay in touch with your friends and family. I lived in Mauritius and Germany, therefore, my friends and family are spread throughout the world. I do not know how I would be able to keep up-to-date with everyone if Facebook didn’t exist.
On the other side it’s a powerful many-to-many communication instrument. If you have a good idea, you can make a promotional campaign go viral. You can promote yourself and your brand, receive direct feedback from your fans, partners, customers or followers, but you can’t control what they think or say about you on the internet.
You can destroy a person’s or brand’s image completely, by posting one single negative comment anywhere on the internet. Don’t ignore it, deal with it.
Negative stuff?
Thats not what I’m trying to do here. I tweet, I blog, I upload photos and videos of fun moments in South Korea. I spend hours editing so that everyone looks great. I can’t explain why, I just love doing that, AND I love YouTube. I spend way too many hours on YouTube and I’m especially delighted when I find another personal, but fun video.
So, out of nowhere, I found confidence to upload my videos on YouTube for everyone to see, even though they were at first only meant to be shared with my friends and family on my own Facebook wall.
I do not intend to destroy anyones image.
I will continue to take videos and edit it the way I want to. *
It’s my new passion.
I studied digital media and graduated a few months ago. Being a student was awesome and annoying at the same time. What annoyed me the most about it? I just couldn’t do what I wanted to do. For example, I couldn’t do the simplest thing, like read a book I chose to read, and not another marketing book for the upcoming exam (Maybe I could have, but I would have felt really bad about that). Finally, I decided to go on a creative gap year. I chose to live in Seoul. I wanted to experience something new, learn a new language and find out slowly but confidently in which direction I wanted to go.
By coincidence I figured that I have a passion for editing. Not just photos but videos. I don’t know whats going to happen next, but I have a good feeling about this. I love the positive feedback I get, it makes me smile a lot these days :)
Thank-you! As a Buddhist proverb puts it: “If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.”
LOVE IT OR DO NOT LOVE IT.
*From now on, I’ll ask for permission, before I take you on film. Promised!
And I apologize that I didn’t think of doing this earlier.
I’ve already had Korean class for 5 days… It’s a very cute and enjoyable way of spending your time when you’ve just recently graduated from another university with a bachelor of arts degree. The pressure to get good grades isn’t there, you just want to learn Korean with your new friends (And the teachers try to teach Korean in a fun and entertaining way - Look at that picture). I don’t know how other universities work with their students, but I’ve met some students from Yonsei, and they seem to be as much confident as me, about boasting how much better their university is than others ^_^.
I’m guessing the reason though, why I love this Korean class so much is because it turned out to be the pain reliever of my headaches.
After graduation, I could have just started to work, climb the career ladder, get married, get kids, retire, get grandkids, die. But thats clearly far away from my idea of living my life right now..
I kept on asking myself: “What the f*** am I going to do with my life?”
For me its to finally learn Korean and learn more about my mother’s country, meet new people with other interesting perspectives, get out of my comfort zone and experience something new. It was the best decision I could have made, even though it looked like I was just packing my bags and running away. I’m actually starting to see a clear picture what I want and what I do not want to happen with my life..
I’ve also already had the best moments of my life within the last three weeks in Korea, which I believe is mostly because of meeting new faces who quickly managed to create a spark in my heart whenever I see them ^_^
