SUPERLENSE.
One of those days, where you turn into a little kid, because you get to explore a whole new world. Kind of.. I thought I need a 2000 dollar camera or a film camera to produce decent photographs. At the moment I’m not really keen on using my film camera due to the expensive development prices..
But my oh so smart boyfriend revealed with the right lense, for example Sigma 30 mm 1:1.4, I can still get those awesome shots! ^.^ My heart jumped a little, and as soon as he left the house for work, I started to shoot random things, like flowers, fruits, the view out of my window, and ended up shooting a whole series of self-portraits. Now, the next thing I want to learn is how to use a fine remote control, because arm-length photography gets annoying after a while..

This was such a gorgeous day, with one of those exotic weathers that London is yet to call back… Rosy feelings aside, I must confess that while letting diem be Carpe’d I couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment in myself. Imagine having a sunburn, and all you do is purposedly avoid sun cream and walk around naked for the sake of that sexy beach tan of yours. If you’re more of a Korean following the “let’s-be-freaking-white” trend, then imagine yourself “spying” on people, while asking yourself : Where are they from, who are those people, what do they do? But instead of occupying yourself with thoughts for beautiful strangers, do you know what you can tell about your own dear self?
When you live in big cities like Seoul or London, it’s impossible to not come across one single human-being who sparks your interest. Not in a “I-want-to-date-her/him” manner, just in a genuine “hello,-who-are-you?” manner. In metropolitans, it’s so easy to turn into a silent observer, while sinking into a comfy state of anonymity…
Nevertheless, it’s reflective thinking time on NICISEOUL, how else are you going to figure what you want in life? Let’s look back for some self-improvement, shall we?

Now, the first very obvious thing I said was: “I just want to be happy”.
You too? Come on, be honest with yourself, think deeper, think of how you want to get in that “I am happy” state. Are the things you’re doing now going to be enough to reach that “I am happy” state? You know what I’m implying to, don’t you? If yes, my work is done here. It’s late too, I’ve got a headache and I don’t feel like discussing this topic any further.
I just wrote the perhaps most depressing post for this blog. Oh well, if you’re a scroller, and only here for the photos and videos, then it doesn’t really matter, as everything will dissolve into bytes, c’est la vie, c’est bli bla blub.

LOVE LETTER FROM GERMANY.

I didn’t expect anything, but then “I got mail”.
A white, fat, A4 envelope from ELLE Germany’s office.
I recognized Melanie’s handwriting immediately. We went to school together from 8th till 13th grade. She studied in Tampere (Finland) and Passau near Munich, I studied in Cologne, then Mannheim, now I live in Seoul.. We were always so far apart, but we met every single year at least twice. For example, a little before or after christmas, we have our own little X-Mas dinner with our other dear girlfriends. It’s perfect to meet up, because everyone is home for Christmas anyways.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t make an effort to see each other when we’re back in our own lives - somewhere in the world. We go together to music festivals, we travelled to London a few times, I went to see her in Tampere, a few times in Munich, she came to Mannheim, or flew all over the world to visit me in Seoul.
We went through so much bullshit and love, but I know it’s a friendship that will last for ever. ^_^
Thank-you Melanie! I’m loving the Cinique eye shadow and lipgloss. The Chanel rouge is making me look like I’m with you drinking Martine D’oro before we go out and the ELLE magazine is making me feel closer to you and Germany…
She said she sent it because she’s been following me on Facebook and my blog and got the vibe that I might be missing Germany. Well, I don’t miss countries, but I miss people, and she is one of them.
I went through the magazine and found Frida Gold as one of the newcomers. “Wovon sollen wir träumen” is one of her songs, and for some reason it’s how I feel those last few days… I’m having the time of my life, but the one person I love most is leaving Korea soon, and it’s making me question everything..

[KOREAN BURGER & PLASTIC CREPES]
We went to Burger King to have some healthy dinner for a change.
I know.. if you’re in a foreign country you should really try to be local.. But please check my videos, you will see that we do eat a lot of Korean food and in my defense, I had bulgogi burger.
Bulgogi is a Korean dish with sweet marinated barbecued beef. It is very tasty and the reason why I stopped being a vegetarian. It happened in Karlsruhe/Germany in 2005 on a cold November Korean night. We were dancing, drinking, eating and singing. The Ajumas (old Korean ladies) forced my first love to go on stage and he began singing “Your Body is a Wonderland”. Even though it was supposed to be a romantic moment, I couldn’t stop thinking of the dish that was staring at me all night. I stopped being a vegetarian. I just couldn’t resist. My point is: Bulgogi is SO good.

Anyways, after that non-fat meal we decided to do something even better for our “S-Lines”.
Have some dessert.
Not just any dessert though - really, really good dessert at Spero Spera. (I don’t know why I always make this ridiculous attempt to describe food, like here: The Best Brownies in Seoul for Bananamilk Magazine. Oh well..)
Back to Spero Spera in Hongdae (Wausan-ro 21-gil).
They offer every kind of those treats. You don’t just get sweet crêpes, you also get salty ones with bacon, cheese and so on. Everything is displayed in a mouthwatering, plastic version behind glass walls, which makes it a easy game for foreigners. Just point, smile and say “JUM JUSEYO” (eng: please give it to me).
Another plus point are their prices. It’s quite cheap and I guess it’s therefore a place where you’ll meet many Hongik University students - it is just a 3-5 minutes walk from there.
Unfortunately, thanks to the bulgogi burger, I was full… I had good iced caramel cappucino (for 3300 won only) and promised myself to go back soon. The plastic cheesecake crêpes left that big impression on me. I never had crêpes with cake and ice-cream. Yum! Wait for me.

P.S: Thank you Alex for taking us there!
